Foundation Supported Program Takes Home National Energy Award

RBT EVHA award-winning home

Yavapai College's Residential Building Technology program again beat out big-time national home builders to take home two 2007 Gold EnergyValue Housing Awards (EVHA) from the National Association of Home Builders Research Center.

The awards include:

  • 2007 Gold EnergyValue Housing Award – Moderate Climate/Affordable Home (above)
  • 2007 Gold EnergyValue Housing Award – Moderate Climate/Custom Home

The EVHA program recognizes energy-efficient, “green” building practices, which is exactly what the RBT program has specialized in for the last 10 years. RBT students learn hands-on how to design and/or build a healthy, safe, durable, comfortable, affordable, resource efficient, environmentally responsive house that incorporates appropriate building materials, systems and technologies.

Foundation Support

In support of the Residential Building Technology Program, the Yavapai College Foundation purchases the lot and materials for homes and a percentage of the net proceeds from the sale of the home go into an endowed scholarship fund.
