Yavapai College's Residential Building Technology program again beat out big-time national home builders to take home two 2007 Gold EnergyValue Housing Awards (EVHA) from the National Association of Home Builders Research Center.
The EVHA program recognizes energy-efficient, “green” building practices, which is exactly what the RBT program has specialized in for the last 10 years. RBT students learn hands-on how to design and/or build a healthy, safe, durable, comfortable, affordable, resource efficient, environmentally responsive house that incorporates appropriate building materials, systems and technologies.
In support of the Residential Building Technology Program, the Yavapai College Foundation purchases the lot and materials for homes and a percentage of the net proceeds from the sale of the home go into an endowed scholarship fund.
