Recognizing her generous legacy and hometown loyalty, the Yavapai College Foundation dedicated the college’s new Community Room in the Library (Building 19) to Susan “Susie” N. Webb at its annual meeting on June 20. A PHS graduate, Miss Yavapai County and Miss Arizona, Webb had a long record of community service, including Prescott Fine Arts Association, Prescott Alta Vista Garden Club, Sharlot Hall Museum, Prescott Arts Docents and the YC Foundation. She died in 1995 at the age of 52 after battling cancer.

The Foundation also recognized the Jewish Community Foundation of Greater Prescott for its support of Yavapai College Community Events. JCF support allowed the college to bring in big-name acts this past season, including the Moscow Symphony Orchestra and Bill Cosby.

The YCF also paid tribute to YCF board members who have passed away. Dr. Ray Elliot founded the Greater Verde Valley Chapter of the YCF and established a scholarship fund to benefit students on the Verde Valley Campus. Dr. Ed Harris was chair of the YC Governing Board and liaison to the YC Foundation and was instrumental in passing the $69.5 bond to fund the master plan. Keith Quail served on the YCF board since its inception in 1972 and helped to establish two endowed funds to support nursing and rural allied health.
The YCF supports Yavapai College in fulfilling its mission to provide high quality, cost effective education. The Foundation supports student scholarships, faculty development and programs that enrich both campus and community life.
