Blackboard

What is Blackboard?

Blackboard is the official delivery system for online courses at Yavapai College. It is a course management software package accessed through a web browser such as Microsoft Internet Explorer or Netscape Communicator. In addition to online classes, Blackboard is used to supplement some of Yavapai College’s traditional courses that are based on campus.

Blackboard Allows You To . . .

  • post course materials (such as your syllabus) to a secure online site
  • facilitate interactive communication through chat rooms and discussion boards
  • post online quizzes and tests
  • provide an online gradebook for your students
  • receive course feedback from students through online surveys
  • provide various levels of web-enhanced instruction:
    • - Web-enhanced: traditional course with resources posted in Blackboard
    • - Hybrid: combination of Internet instruction and traditional instruction
    • - Online: 100% Internet instruction

Blackboard Course Shells

If you are teaching a course at Yavapai College, a blank Blackboard shell has been automatically generated and is available for you to add content. For assistance and/or training, contact TELS for a consultation.
