Small Businesses are Big Business

Small businesses are the foundation of our economy. In Arizona, they comprise over 90 percent of all business firms and employ more than 60 percent of the private sector work force. So it's truly unfortunate when any small business fails, or fails to grow, for the lack of sound advise.

The fact is, many small businesses cannot afford the expertise they need in all facets of their operation. For this reason, the Yavapai College Small Business Development Center (SBDC) provides appropriate information and referrals to the public free of charge.

What is the Yavapai College SBDC?

The Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at Yavapai College is a small business support organization sponsored by Yavapai College and the U. S. Small Business Administration. The SBDC is also a resource center, linking the federal, state, county, and private sector. These resources, in turn are used to counsel and train small businesses to achieve management excellence, resolve financial and marketing problems, and help them succeed.

SBDC exists to improve the profitability and productivity of the small business community in Arizona. The Yavapai College SBDC is one of eleven SBDC's located in Arizona. If you have a need concerning small business in any other area of the state we can give the appropriate SBDC to contact in that area.

All the Support Your Business Needs

The Small Business Development Center offers both short and long term counseling at no charge, and seminars and workshops conducted by experienced business professionals. Hands-on training can be provided in such disciplines as business planning, record keeping and personnel management.

In addition, Yavapai College offers frequent classes especially selected to benefit the small business operator. Many of these classes carry college credit.

For your convenience, the SBDC also houses a library with books, magazines, video and audio tapes specifically suited to the needs of small business. Some computers are available for client use.
