The Office of Public Information (OPI) is the office the markets Yavapai College to our external audience. We do this through media relations (newspaper, television and radio), advertising, print and web publications, and other methods.
OPI provides many services to the college community, including: writing press releases and public service announcements; promoting programs and special events; design services for publications; and writing and editing for the Web.
OPI staff are located on several campuses. The main office is in Building 32 on the Prescott Campus. This office houses the director, tri-city communications manager and administrative associate. Design Services, part of OPI, is located in Building 15 on the Prescott Campus. The Verde Valley communications manager is housed on the Clarkdale Campus in Building H.
Contact Gwen Raubolt for news related to the Prescott, Prescott Valley and Chino Valley campuses and Paula Blankenship for news related to the Verde Valley and Sedona campuses. It will help to speed the production of your release if you compile in advance the pertinent information (who, what, where, when, why, and how), along with any publicity photos that you may have.
Because OPI is responsible for Yavapai College’s media relations, all contact with the media must be coordinated through OPI. Two communications managers are available to assist you with researching and writing a news release or public service announcement for your program or event.
While it is possible for you to draft the content of your own news release, it must then be shared with a communications manager for review, possible edit, and distribution to the media. This procedure works well because OPI has established contacts with journalists and an up-to-date media list to maximize exposure.
Yavapai College’s Design Services is here to help. To initiate a design project, the design team needs a marketing request form or “MRF” that details the project specifications and allows them to schedule and track it. Contact Gwen Raubolt (Tri-Cities) or Paula Blankenship (Verde Valley) for a MRF.
You will need to have some general information about your project:
Design Services is responsible for maintaining a consistent and professional image for YC print collateral. Their top priorities are:
Design services cannot provide services for bulletin board displays, classroom materials, flyers for in-house activities (public not invited), forms used in-house only or manuals used in-house only.
Job timelines depend on the complexity of the job. The following timelines reflect Design Services having all elements of the job on hand, including copy, images, phone numbers, etc. and allowing for two rounds of revisions. (Any more revisions can effect time of delivery.)
* Allow 2 more weeks for external printing. If printing with YC Print Services, call them for time frame and to coordinate the printing of your job.
Design Services may require additional time during their busiest production times, including the month before new semesters begin and around the holidays.
It's difficult to generalize how much a project will cost because it depends on many factors, including the size, number of folds, number of colors and the quantity being printed. Design Services can help you with an estimate - call 776-2040.
