Foundations of Medical Assisting II - HCE 121

Class will be offered in Spring 2008.

This class is an introduction to the clinical role of the Medical Assistant in an ambulatory setting. The course covers physiology and psychology fo the body systems, and procedures and precautions for testing and clinical techniques, including principles of quality customer and patient relations.

  • Medical history, patient assessment, and examination
  • Diagnostic and minor surgical procedures, aseptic techniques
  • Specimen collections, processing, performing the test, and reporting results
  • Electrocardiography procedures
  • Preparing and administering medications
  • Minor office surgeries and procedures
  • Diagnostic imaging for the physician's office
