Web Services' goal is to provide a high degree of availability to the servers, services, and applications that we monitor and support. To that end, we have created this page to identify how well we are performing. Our goal is 99.5% uptime for each of the servers, services, and applications that we maintain. Basically, this means that our web site, Blackboard, library databases, and other services will only be inaccessible for less than 44 hours in an entire year.
While we periodically must deactivate servers and applications so that we can perform routine maintenance or upgrades, we will make every attempt to minimize the inconvenience to our students, faculty, and staff. We try to schedule maintenance to occur on Friday or Saturday nights, or in the very early morning on Saturday or Sunday.
Whenever possible, we will alert anyone affected by a scheduled outage at least three business days in advance. For unscheduled maintenance or major malfunctions, we'll alert you through our web site's homepage or via our new Campus Information Center web site, scheduled to come online at the end of March.
So how well are we meeting our goal?
