Off-Site Link Policy

In an effort to clearly identify who maintains content and to better streamline support requests, Web Services will be implementing an off-site link policy to ensure that the owners and maintainers of content are clearly identified.

After meeting with the Web Committee, it was determined that there are three major types of links on our web site - internal links, pointing to another page on the WWW2 server or on other internal servers, external affiliate links, pointing to third-party companies that the College has a formal business relationship with, and general external links, which are links to a third-party web site with which the College does not have a formal business relationship.

Examples of these links appear below:

Internal Links:

• A link from a departmental homepage to a contact us page with hours.
• A link from WWW2 (the main web site) to TIGER (the photo gallery).
• Other links not leaving the YC.EDU domain.

External (Affiliate) Links:

• A link from the YC homepage to the Bookstore.
• A link from Campus Life to Chartwells, the cafeteria manager.

External (General) Links:

• A link to the City of Prescott for more information about the city.
• A link to the soccer schedules at community colleges throughout Arizona.

The text of the warning approved by the Web Committee is as follows:

"Links to other Internet sites are provided as a convenience and for educational or informational purposes only. Yavapai College is not responsible for the availability, accuracy or content of these external sites, nor does Yavapai College endorse, warrant or guarantee the products, services, opinions, or information described or offered on these sites."
