Hassayampa Institute for Creative Writing

After twelve outstanding years, Hassayampa Institute is changing! Our newly revised, free, open-to-the-public literary series will provide four readings during the fall and spring. This year's NEA-sponsored theme, "Deepening the Dialogue" features some of the Southwest's most prominent authors from diverse backgrounds who work in multiple genres. These multicultural authors will stretch the Prescott area literary envelope by providing fresh perspectives on the cultures of our region. Each reading will focus on a specific topic. Please bookmark this site for upcoming additional programming!

2008-2009 schedule is as follows:

Friday, Sept 26th: "Letters to the Land"
featuring Alberto Rios, Sharman Apt Russell & Ofelia Zepeda

Friday, Nov. 7th: "Political/Science"
featuring Demetria Martinez & Arthur Sze

Friday, Feb. 20th: "Memory & Witness"
featuring Susan Lang & James Sallis

Friday, April 3rd: "Where Myth Meets Spirit"
featuring Gerald McDermott

All events will be held in the Yavapai College Community Room at the Yavapai College Library at 7 p.m.

Sponsorship has also been provided by The Margaret T. Morris Foundation, Kieckhefer Foundation and Yavapai College.
