I was born in Costa Rica, in a small town in the Western province of Guanacaste. I lived there with my American father and Costa Rican mother up until 2 years ago, when I decided to move to US and get an education.
I came to Arizona for two reasons: first, because I have family members who live here, and with whom I could stay. Second, because I wanted to attend a community college the first two years: it's smaller and cheaper than a university. So Yavapai College was just perfect.
I applied for the Honors Program because the scholarship part of it was definitely appealing, and because it seemed like a great opportunity to meet really smart kids who would challenge my way of thinking and would make me question my own beliefs. (That did happen by the way).
I will be moving to Eugene, Oregon this fall to start attending UO and pursue a major in Architecture with an emphasis on sustainable design and alternative building techniques and materials at the University of Oregon. I also want to learn more and help educate people about alternative lifestyles that minimize our destructive footprint on the earth.
