Yavapai College Campus Police - Dial 311Incident Response ProtocolIn the event of an incident which has affected or has the potential to affect the safety or well being of life, property, or the normal operation of the college, requiring a coordinated response by the decision making apparatus of the college, the following procedure will be put into place. In each case a determination will be made on the scene by either the Chief of Campus Safety (or designee), or the Environmental Health and Safety Officer (or designee) that an incident warrants establishing a command center. Initial point of contact will be the Dean of Student Services (or designated alternate) who is then responsible for notifying the President and initiating a conference call to determine whether the circumstances warrant convening the balance of the relevant Incident Response Team. Any decision regarding canceling of classes or closure of the college will be made by the President (or designee). The wording of the notification will come from the Office of Public Information. The text for web page banners, pre-recorded phone messages, YC Newsflash, must be cleared by the Director of the OPI prior to be posted. Evacuation decisions will be carefully evaluated. Depending on the nature and severity of the incident, completing classes already in session will be considered. If evacuation is necessary, as determined by the Incident Response Team, there should be a priority evacuation sequence established. Students first! Some staff other than Campus Safety and Facilities Management may need to assist in evacuation arrangements (especially if residence halls are involved.
