Prescott Campus Gallery Schedule for Summer/Fall 2008

Note: Summer hours for the art gallery are 10:00 am – 3:00 pm, Tuesdays thru Saturdays.
We will return to our normal hours at the start of Fall Semester 2008.
During the normal class schedule, our hours are: Tuesdays and Wednesday 10am-7pm, and Thursday, Friday and Saturday, 10-3pm

Historic Japanese Woodcuts: July 8 – August 14, 2008

Yavapai College students along with the Prescott area community will have an opportunity to personally experience a collection of Historic Japanese Woodcuts dating back to 1749.
Summer hours for the art gallery are 10:00 am – 3:00 p.m. only

  • Opening Reception: Friday, July 11, 5:00 – 7:00 p.m.

Perceiving the Planet: August 26-September 19, 2008

Unique perceptions of the world are shared through a variety of media in this three artist show. Mark Abrahamson exposes the effects of heavy metal pollution on the environment with aerial photography, Cathy Breslaw weaves together the integration of global ideas with transparent mesh while Bob Nugent produces the organic nature of our world on paper.

Life and the Machine: September 23, -October 17, 2008

September 23 – October 17, 2008 From the organic and fluid encaustic paintings of Mary Farmer, the gallery patron will travel through the pictorial representations of geometric equations of Mark Pomilio, only to find themselves captivated by the enigmatic small mechanisms of sculptor Donovan Widmer.

  • Opening Reception Friday, September 26, 5:00-7: p.m.

Student Art Exhibition: October 21-November 21, 2008

Join us for our semi-annual juried exhibition showcasing Yavapai College Student artwork. The opening will reception will host musical performances provided by Yavapai College music students.

  • Opening Reception: Friday, October 24, 5:00 – 7:00 p.m.

Capturing Character: November 25-December 19, 2008

The individual nature of character can be expressed by many means. Sheldon James and Bill Hubschmidt provide insight into the personality of their sitters through paint and digital media. Patricia Montgomery packs her impressions into portable mixed media sculpture.
