College House Projects
Students enrolled in RBT 110 and RBT 121 (Residential Building I/II) construct a green, sustainable, high-performance home i.e., a "college house". These are a hands-on courses where students are on the jobsite 20 hours per week to learn and apply skills in all phases of residential construction. Several of the most recently completed houses are described below.
The College House project scheduled to begin in the Fall 2008 semester is a 2012 square foot custom home in the Estancia de Prescott subdivision.... register for RBT 110 to be a part of the team constructing this energy efficient and green home!
Fox House - Chino Valley (Fall '07 / Spring '08 College House Project)
The College House which was completed in May '08 once again brings cutting-edge technologies and green-building designs to the forefront. Working is cooperatively with the Prescott Area Habitat for Humanity, the 4-bedroom house built by YC students in Chino Valley (location map link) incorporates the essential green building and performance elements that are characteristic of all of the YC houses. The house has been tested and is 50% more energy efficient than the Energy Star reference house..

Kaibab House - Chino Valley (Fall '06 - Spring '07 semesters)
Working cooperatively with the Prescott Area Habitat for Humanity, RBT program students constructed a 1,189 sq. ft. house located in Chino Valley. Similar to the award-winning Diamond Valley house (also constructed in cooperation with Habitat for Humanity), the Kaibab house has the same floor plan and many of the features that make it safe, healthy, comfortable, affordable, durable, and energy/resource efficient.
Diamond Valley House - Prescott (Fall '05 - Spring '06 semesters)
Working cooperatively with the Prescott Area Habitat for Humanity, RBT program students constructed a 1,189 sq. ft. house in Diamond Valley (between Prescott and Prescott Valley). Overcoming initial challenges with lot and floodplain issues, this project ultimately went on to be a 2007 EVHA Gold Award winner in the "Affordable, Moderate Climate Category".
Longview House - Prescott (Spring '04 - Spring '06 semesters)
With funding from the Yavapai Foundation, RBT program students constructed a 3,191 sq. ft. spec house in the Fairview Estates neighborhood of Prescott. Built to conform to the performance criteria of 7 separate sets of green building guidelines, the Longview House went on to be awarded the 2006 NAHB Green Building Award (Single Family: Research) and the 2007 Energy Value Housing Gold Award (Moderate Climate - Custom Home Category). It is also EnergyStar certified and Environments for Living certified.

Lupine House - Prescott (Fall '03 - Spring '04 semesters)
The Lupine House, built in the Pinyon Oaks subdivision of Prescott, wasa awarded the 2004 National Association of Home Builders Green Project of the Year (Custom Home Category) and the 2005 Energy Value Housing Gold Award (Moderate Climate, Custom Home Category).
Columbine House - Prescott (Fall '02 - Spring '03 semesters)
The Columbine House was built in the Pinyon Oaks subdivision of Prescott.
